My Review

“Hoodwinked!” is a computer-animated comedy crime-drama film which is a retelling of the old folktale “Little Red Riding Hood.” The story has two critter cops investigating a disturbance at Granny’s house involving Granny, her granddaughter Little Red Riding Hood, a Big Bad Wolf, and a Woodsman. There are plenty of potential guilty parties as the two police investigators look into the matter.

Director Cory Edwards, in his directorial debut, expertly handled this complex yet entertaining story that qualifies as fun for all ages. He co-wrote the screenplay with Todd Edwards and Tony Leech.

The voice cast includes Anne Hathaway as Red Puckett (aka Little Red Riding Hood), Glenn Close as Abigail “Granny” Puckett, Patrick Warburton as Wolf W. Wolf, Jim Belushi as Kirk the Woodsman, David Ogden Stiers and Anthony Anderson as the detectives, Chazz Palminteri as Woolworth, Xzibit as Chief Ted Grizzly, Andy Dick as Boingo the Bunny, Corey Edwards as Twitchy, and Benjy Gaither as Japeth the Goat.

The very colorful, entertaining, and watchable “Hoodwinked!” was a big hit at the box office for Kanbar Entertainment, Kanbar Animation, Blue Yonder Films, and The Weinstein Company. A sequel was released in 2011 called “Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs. Evil,” which was a financial failure in theatrical release.
