My Review

Bruce Willis’ career has hit a new low in “Once Upon a Time in Venice.” This horribly written comedy action picture is about a private detective whose dog is kidnapped by gang members. The man responsible for this debacle is first time director Mark Cullen, who also co-produced and co-wrote the screenplay with his brother Robb Cullen. Hopefully things will go better for the Cullen siblings in the future.

The supporting cast includes Jason Mamoa, who delivered a laughable performance as a gang leader; veteran television and movie star John Goodman, seemingly in this project for the paycheck; as well as Thomas Middleditch, Famke Janssen, David Arquette, Adam Goldberg, Elisabeth Rohm, Stephanie Sigman, Kal Penn, et al.

The cinematography was one positive aspect of the film. Amir Mokri has quite a few outstanding scenic shots in and around the Venice district of Los Angeles. However, Bruce Willis shows that his career has gone to the dogs with the unwatchable “Once Upon a Time in Venice,” a bomb at the international box office.
