My Review

“Touch of Evil” is a crime drama film noir about kidnapping, murder, drugs, and police corruption in a town along the U. S.-Mexican border. The complex plot is too involved to summarize in this space. Orson Welles (“Citizen Kane” 1941) tightly directed and wrote this engrossing story, based on the 1956 novel “Badge of Evil” by Whit Masterson.

The talented and diverse stars of the show include Charlton Heston, Janet Leigh, Orson Welles, Joanna Moore (mother of Oscar winner Tatum O’Neal), Ray Collins, Dennis Weaver, Zsa Zsa Gabor, Marlene Dietrich, Mercedes McCambridge, Loi Lansing, and Joseph Cotton in an uncredited cameo as the coroner. The watchable “Touch of Evil” had some success at the box office for Universal Pictures. Henry Mancini was in charge of composing the musical score.
