My Review

“The Flying Scotsman” is a British sports drama about the life and career of amateur bicyclist Graeme Obree of Scotland. The film covers the period of his life where he competed for the one hour distance world record. Director Douglas Mackinnon did a good job at the helm of the biopic, from a well written screenplay by John Brown, Declan Hughes, and Simon Rose. It was a fast-moving 96 minute running time.

The stars are Jonny Lee Miller as Obree, Laura Fraser, Billy Boyd, Morven Christie, and Brian Cox, one of the more visible Scottish actors in show business. The watchable biopic “The Flying Scotsman” was a disappointment at the box office for Scion Films, Scottish Screen, Zero West Filmproduktion, and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.
