My Review

Walt Disney’s enduring story of “Dumbo” tells the story of a baby elephant treated horribly because of his large ears. Everything changes when Dumbo discovers that his enormous ears allows him to fly, astounding everyone at the circus with his new talent. Director Ben Sharpsteen kept the film on track with a compassionate story, colorful animation, new animal characters, and good music.

The voice cast includes Edward Brophy as Timothy Q. Mouse, Verna Felton as Dumbo’s mother, Cliff Edwards as leader of the crows, Herman Bing as The Ringmaster, Sterling Holloway as Mr. Stork, and Billy Belcher as the Clown. Dumbo himself does not have any spoken dialogue.

The very watchable “Dumbo” was very successful with movie-going audiences for producer Walt Disney, Walt Disney Productions, and RKO Radio Pictures. In 2019, the Disney people released a live-action “Dumbo” directed by Tim Burton.
