My Review

“Yesterday” is the unlikely story of a struggling musician who suddenly finds himself the only person in the world who remembers the Beatles, and he becomes successful recording and selling their music. The premise is so ridiculous and far-fetched that is undermines the entire movie and makes the nearly two hour long duration a very unpleasant experience.

British director Danny Boyle has a history of making chaotic and uninteresting films like “Trainspotting” (1996) and “Steve Jobs” (2015); this one is no different. In addition, the screenplay is poorly written by Richard Curtis, based on a story by Curtis and Jack Barth. The unwatchable “Yesterday” did surprisingly have some success at the box office with stars like Himesh Patel, Lily James, Ed Sheeran, Sophia Di Martino, and Kate McKinnon, making some cash for Universal Pictures.
