My Review

“No Way Up” is a disaster film about seven survivors of an airplane which crashes into the shark-infested waters of the Pacific Ocean on its way to Baja California. Swiss director Claudio Fah and the British producers actually did a good job of instilling this low-budget film with decent production values, good special effects, decent writing, believable performances from the actors, and suspense that lasted for the entire 90 minute running time. Fah and screenwriter Andy Mason were wise to limit the film’s duration to an hour-and-a-half. Any longer could have lead to boredom for the audience, given this basic plot and story depicted in movies before.

The cast is headed by Colm Meaney, well known as engineer Miles O’Brien in two “Star Trek” television series: “The Next Generation” (1987-1994) and “Deep Space Nine” (1993-1999). Co-stars include Will Attenborough, Phyllis Logan, Sophie McIntosh, Jeremias Amoore, Grace Nettle, Manuel Pacific, and James Carroll Jordan. The watchable “No Way Up” was not a big success in theatrical release for Ingenious Media, Altitude Film Entertainment, Dimension Studio, Hyprr Films, and RLJE Films.
