“Follow That Dream” is a musical comedy starring Elvis Presley as a member of a family who decide to “homestead” beachfront property in Florida. This results in all manner of entertaining comedy and drama, well executed by director Gordon Douglas (“The Sins of Rachel Cade” 1961), from a screenplay penned by Charles Lederer.
Co-stars with the King of Rock and Roll includes Arthur O’Connell, Ann Helm, Joanna Moore, Simon Oakland, Jack Kruschen, Roland Winters, Alan Hewitt, Frank DeKova, Herbert Rudley, Barry Russo, and Gavin Koon and Robin Koon as Eddy and Teddy. The music designed around Elvis was handled by Hans J. Salter, and wonderful beach scenes in Florida filmed by cinematographer Leo Tover. “Follow That Dream” was successful in theatrical release for the Mirisch Company and United Artists.
