My Review

“Inside Man” is a crime drama about a demoted police detective who is given the opportunity to go undercover and kill the mob’s most ruthless killer. However, the challenge proves much too daunting and he begins to unravel emotionally. The heavy (and predictable) drama proceeds from there. The movie is less than satisfying due to sloppy direction by Danny A. Abeckaser and an inconsistent screenplay penned by Kosta Kondilopoulos.

The principal cast includes Emile Hirsch, Lucy Hale, and Jake Cannavale (son of Bobby Cannavale and great-grandson of Lena Horne). They deliver good performances, but are stuck in a ho-hum crime drama we have seen better versions of over the years. Co-stars include Robert Davi, Greg Finley, Ashley Greene, Vincent Laresca, Bo Dietl, Jeremy Luke, James Russo, Danny A. Abeckaser, Kyle Stefanski, and Sid Rosenberg as “Dracula.”

The predictable “Inside Man” flopped at the box office for producer Danny A. Abeckaser, 2B Films, Wild7 Films, and Vertical Entertainment. It can be viewed on some streaming services and on DVD.
