My Review

Solid entertainment are with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence as they reprise their roles from the “Bad Boys” film franchise (1995, 2003) in the new “Bad Boys for Life.” Co-producer Smith (with Jerry Bruckheimer and Doug Belgrad) made sure this third movie in the series has good production values, an entertaining script and storyline, and generous amounts of action sequences.

The story, which moves quickly for a little over two hours duration, has a widow of a drug cartel kingpin out for revenge on Smith’s character, whom she holds responsible for her husband’s death. Credit smooth direction by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah (“Image” 2014) and good writing by Chris Bremner, Peter Craig, and Joe Carnahan.

The supporting cast includes Vanessa Hudgens, Kate del Castillo, Jacob Scipio, Paola Nunez, Alexander Ludwig, Charles Melton, Michael Bay, and Joe Pantoliano, also returning from the first two pictures, as police captain Conrad Howard. The watchable “Bad Boys for Life” was the number one hit at the box office domestically in 2020 (and number three world wide) for Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures.
