My Review
“The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare” is the story of Winston Churchill’s plan to neutralize Hitler’s fleet of U-boats during World War II. A top-secret combat unit uses unconventional means to battle the Nazi’s and win the war. Director-screenwriter Guy Ritchie (“Sherlock Holmes” 2009) put together one of his usual glossy action-packed films with shallow character development and often confusing plots and subplots. The viewer must proceed with this factor in mind.
The cast consists of Harry Cavill, Eiza Gonzalez, Henry Golding, Cary Elwes, Alan Ritchson, Alex Pettyfer, Hero Fiennes Tiffin, Henrique Zaga, Til Schweiger, Danny Sapani, Rory Kinnear, Babs Olusanmokun, and Freddie Fox as Ian Fleming.
The somewhat watchable “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare” was a box office disappointment for producers Jerry Bruckheimer and Guy Ritchie, Black Bear, Jerry Bruckheimer Films, Kinopoisk, Toff Guy, Red Sea Film Fund, C2 Motion Picture Group, Media Capital Technologies, and Lionsgate Films.
