Scientists try to escape a deep sea research station when it was damaged by an earthquake in the science fiction action picture “Underwater.” The encounters with some “scary” sea creatures demonstrates that this is cheap scifi drama poorly executed by director William Eubank (“The Signal” 2014) and badly written by Brian Duffield and Adam Cozad.
The cast gave some passable performances, which includes Kristen Stewart, Vincent Cassel, T. J. Miller, Jessica Henwick, John Gallagher Jr., Gunner Wright, and Mamoudou Athie. The mostly unwatchable “Underwater” from 20th Century Fox and producer Peter Chernin was indeed underwater with both critics and movie-goers alike, as it was a huge flop at the box office upon its release in January of 2020.
