My Review

“Thunderball” is loaded with action, adventure, and Bond women as 007 battles SPECTRE agent Emilio Largo, who purloins two atom bombs from the British government. Sean Connery continues to deliver in his fourth time on the big screen as James Bond, under the careful tutelage of director Terence Young (“From Russia with Love” 1963).

The supporting cast of “Thunderball” includes Bond girls Claudine Auger, Luciana Paluzzi, Molly Peters, Martine Beswick, and Adolfo Celi as Emilio Largo, Rik Van Nutter as Felix Leiter, Bernard Lee as M, Desmond Llewelyn as Q, Lois Maxwell as Moneypenny, Guy Doleman, Roland Culver, Earl Cameron, Paul Stassino, Rose Alba, Philip Locke, George Pravda, et al.

This Bond film was the first to go over two hours at a 130 running time. The only downside to this movie are the extended underwater scenes; too long and difficult to follow. Despite this one negative, viewers should have a ball watching 007 and company in “Thunderball,” a huge hit at the box office for producers Albert Broccoli and Harry Saltzman, Eon Productions, and United Artists.
