Welcome to “Paradise, Hawaiian Style.” This light and breezy Elvis Presley musical vehicle is the third movie he and manager Tom Parker filmed in Hawaii, after “Blue Hawaii” (1961) and “Girls, Girls, Girls” (1962). Co-stars include Suzanna Lee, James Shigeta, Jan Shepard, Philip Ahn, Donna Butterworth, Marianna Hill, Irene Tsu, Julie Parrish, and Grady Sutton.
The involvement of veteran movie producer Hal B. Wallis ensured that the project had good production values. Cinematographer W. Wallace Kelley does a good job of using the beautiful backdrop of the Hawaiian Islands for filming locales. Anthony Lawrence and Allan Weiss provided good dialogue in penning the script. And of course music by Joseph L. Lilley helped the King of Rock and Roll in the musical segments.
The watchable “Paradise, Hawaiian Style” was successful in theatrical release for producer Hal B. Wallis, Hal Wallis Productions, and Paramount Pictures.
