My Review

“17 Again” is a fantasy-comedy film about a 37-year-old man, alienated from his children and going through a divorce, accidentally changed into a 17-year-old. He convinces his best friend to register him in the high school where his son and daughter attend, and the comedy and drama proceeds from there.

Director Burr Steers created a light comedy that is a bit on the formulaic side, but pleasant to watch. The adequate screenplay was penned by Jason Filardi. He got some good performances out of the cast including Zac Efron in the lead role of the teenager and Matthew Perry as the older version.

Co-stars include Leslie Mann, Thomas Lennon, Michelle Trachtenberg, Sterling Knight, Hunter Parrish, Nicole Sullivan, Brian Doyle-Murray, Jim Gaffigan, and Margaret Cho. “17 Again” is watchable and winsome entertainment successful at the box office for New Line Cinema, Offspring Entertainment, and Warner Bros. Pictures.
