My Review

“My Mom’s New Boyfriend” is a romantic comedy about an FBI agent who leaves town for three years and returns to find his formerly overweight mother involved in a swinging life style and dating a variety of younger men. He discovers that one of them is a professional art thief wanted by numerous law enforcement agencies. The comedy and drama proceeds from there, well executed by director-screenwriter George Gallo (“Trapped in Paradise” 1994).

Gallo got perfect comedy timing and good acting from the cast, which includes Colin Hanks as the FBI agent, Meg Ryan as his mother, and Antonio Banderas as her boyfriend. The trio has great chemistry in this film, along with co-stars Selma Blair, Trevor Morgan, Keith David, Enrico Colantoni, Marco St. John, Aki Avni, Tom Adams, and Eli Danker. “My Mom’s New Boyfriend” had only limited theatrical viewing from its production company, Millennium Films, and was then released directly to video by Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Group.
