“The Hill” is a sports drama about a baseball player attempting to overcome an injury in able to quality for tryouts for a major league scout. This true story was expertly directed by Jeff Celentano (“Breaking Point” 2009) from an excellent screenplay by Angelo Pizzo and Scott Marshall Smith.
The outstanding cast includes Colin Ford as ball player Rickey Hill, Dennis Quaid as his father, Joelle Carter as his mother, Bonnie Bedelia (the veteran actress also happens to be Macaulay Culkin’s aunt) as his grandmother, Randy Houser, John Smoltz (retired MLB pitcher) as baseball color commentator, and Scott Glenn as the MLB scout.
“The Hill” did have modest success at the box office for producer Jeff Celentano, Vitamin A Films, Rescue Dog Productions, Piney Pictures, and Briarcliff Entertainment.
