It took 36 years, but Tom Cruise and Jerry Bruckheimer finally came out with a sequel to “Top Gun” called “Top Gun: Maverick.” The storyline has Cruise’s Captain Pete “Maverick” Mitchell instructing a younger generation of Navy pilots. Their new set of skills are soon tested in a difficult military operation.
Director Joseph Kosinski (“Oblivion” 2013) and the team of screenwriters, Ehren Kruger, Eric Warren Singer, and Christopher McQuarrie, have filled this sequel with much more action and adventure sequences than there was in the original. A very exciting and engrossing 131 minutes in the picture show!
Val Kilmer reprised his role as Tom “Iceman” Kazansky, now an admiral, joined by newcomers Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Ed Harris, Lewis Pullman, Monica Barbaro, Glen Powell, et al. The very watchable “Top Gun: Maverick” is a big hit in theaters across America and around the world for producers Bruckheimer and Cruise and Paramount Pictures.
