My Review

The evangelical Christian film industry has reached the apex of quality in “God’s Not Dead.” Pure Flix Entertainment and director Harold Cronk (“Jerusalem Countdown” 2011) have created a motion picture that has good production values and great acting, with a clear and insightful presentation of the Christian faith in everyday situations.

The complex yet easy to follow screenplay by Cary Solomon and Chuck Konselman has several intertwined storylines going at once. The principal narrative tells the story of a college freshman (Shane Harper) enrolled in a philosophy class taught by a dogmatic atheist professor (Kevin Sorbo), who demands that all students must sign a declaration that God is dead. The student refuses and the drama proceeds from there.

Other cast members include Dean Cain, Jim Gleason, David A. R. White, Marco Kahn, Paul Kwo, and Benjamin Onyango. There are cameo appearances by Willie Robertson and Korie Robertson of “Duck Dynasty” fame, and by the Newsboys, who are also featured in a concert sequence, performing the film’s title song. For a good time at the movies, rent the dvd of this watchable film and discover numerous reasons why “God’s Not Dead.”
