My Review

“The Fall Guy” is an action-comedy film about a stuntman’s return to show business after taking a year off, only to find himself involved in the mysterious disappearance of the film’s star. A twist in the plot is that his ex-girlfriend is the director, with the action and comedy proceeding from there. Director David Leitch (“Atomic Blonde” 2017) did quite well at the helm of this picture, as it does demonstrate good production values, smooth continuity, and a well written screenplay by Drew Pearce.

Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt are in top form as the leads in the movie. Both are in the prime of their careers, and have great chemistry here; Blunt looks fantastic as a blonde! The co-stars include Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Hannah Waddingham, Teresa Palmer, Stephanie Hsu, Winston Duke, Ben Knight, and Jason Momoa in an uncredited cameo as himself. Lee Majors and Heather Thomas, who starred in the original “Fall Guy” television show on ABC from 1981 to 1986, also make cameo appearances.

The very entertaining and watchable escapist programming “The Fall Guy” has performed well in theatrical release for producers Ryan Gosling and David Leitch, 87 North Productions, Entertainment 360, and Universal Pictures.
