An all-star cast is featured in this exciting thriller about a government coverup of a Mars landing hoax. “Capricorn One” has obvious influences of the 1970’s Watergate/Vietnam War era, capably put together by director-screenwriter Peter Hyams (“Peeper” 1975), guiding actors to wonderful performances and giving the project great production values.
James Brolin, Sam Waterston, and O. J. Simpson delivered the goods as astronauts blackmailed to go along with NASA’s scheme to stage a flight and a visit to the red planet. Co-stars include Elliot Gould, Hal Holbrook, Brenda Vaccaro, Karen Black, David Doyle, Telly Savalas, David Huddleston, Denise Nicholas, James B. Sikking, Barbara Bosson, Lee Bryant, Robert Walden, James Karen, Paul Picerni, Lou Frizzell, and Alan Fudge as the Capsule Communicator.
All are essential components of “Capricorn One,” very watchable out-of-this-world entertainment that was successful at the box office for ITC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Pictures.
