My Review

“Tim” is a romantic drama movie about a relationship between a middle-aged woman and her developmentally impaired 24-year-old gardener. Australian filmmaker Michael Pate wrote and directed this interesting film that featured intriguing performances from the two stars, movie veteran Piper Laurie and relative newcomer Mel Gibson, who is fresh off his first big movie role in “Mad Max” the same year. Laurie’s movie career began in 1950, and went all the way to 2018 with her final appearance in “White Boy Rick.” This film could be classified as a “nice and easy” romance rather than a racy production.

The mostly Australian supporting cast includes Alwyn Kurts, Pat Evison, Peter Gwynne, Deborah Kennedy, Michael Caulfield, Margo Lee, and James Condon. “Tim” did have some box office success for producer Michael Pate, Pisces Production, Australian Film Commission, Nine Network, and Greater Union Film Distributors.
