“Love Again” is a romantic-comedy-drama that tells the story of a woman coping with the loss of her boyfriend by sending text messages to his old phone number, not realizing it was reassigned to a new person, a male journalist. He becomes captivated by her missives and seeks to get to know her, with complications arising when she discovers how he found her. This is a predictable love story we have seen before, but is well constructed by director James C. Strouse, who also wrote the screenplay.
The stars of the show are Priyanka Chopra Jonas, one of India’s biggest movie actors, and Sam Heughan, well known as Jamie Fraser in the television hit “Outlander.” They both handle these roles well and have great chemistry. Co-stars include Celine Dion (playing herself in her feature film debut), Sofia Barclay, Russell Tovey, Lydia West, Steve Oram, Omid Djalili, Celia Imrie, Arinze Kene, and Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers and husband of Priyanka Chopra Jonas.
The predictable yet watchable “Love Again” was modestly successful at the box office for Screen Gems, 2.0 Entertainment, Thunder Road Films, and Sony Pictures Releasing.
