My Review

Tom Cruise starred in “Risky Business,” his break-through role where he plays a suburban Chicago high school senior who gets into trouble when his parents go out of town for a few days. The biggest problem was when he sank his father’s Porsche into Lake Michigan, and must find a way to pay for repairs. The drama proceeds from there.

Director-screenwriter Paul Brickman does a great job in his big screen debut, keeping a talented cast on track with good performances and instilling good production values into the project. The cast is headed by Tom Cruise in his first big movie role, mostly carrying the picture. Co-stars include Rebecca De Mornay, Joe Pantoliano, Nicholas Pryor, Janet Carroll, Richard Masur, Curtis Armstrong, Bronson Pinchot, Megan Mullally, and Anne Lockhart, the eldest daughter of television legend June Lockhart.

“Risky Business” was successful at the box office for The Geffen Film Company and Warner Bros. Studios.
