My Review

“The Holcroft Covenant” is a spy drama about the son of a Nazi German general involved with race with numerous parties to find a fortune in gold his father had reportedly hidden. This film suffers from a confusing storyline, a muddled plot, and actors going through the motions of performing lines from a terrible screenplay written by Edward Anhalt and George Axelrod, adapted from the 1976 novel of the same name by Robert Ludlum.

The cast includes Michael Caine, Lilli Palmer, Anthony Andrews, Victoria Tennant, Michael Lonsdale, Mario Adorf, Bernard Hepton, Shane Rimmer, Alexander Kurst, Michael Wolf, and Richard Munch. “The Holcroft Covenant” was a flop at the box office for Thorn EMI Screen Entertainment and Universal Pictures.
