My Review

“Aladdin” is an animated musical comedy fantasy film from the Arab folktale of a boy who stumbles upon a magic lamp that contains a genie who grants him three wishes. Producers-directors-screenwriters John Musker and Ron Clements put together this movie with comedy, drama, romance, colorful animation, and great music from Alan Menken, Howard Ashman, and Tim Rice. They won the Oscars for Best Original Score and Best Original Song.

The voice cast includes Scott Weinger as Aladdin, Robin Williams as The Genie, Linda Larkin as Princess Jasmine, Douglas Seale as the Sultan, Jonathan Freeman as Jafar, and Frank Welker as Abu. Others include Jim Cummings, Charlie Adler, and Corey Burton.

“Aladdin” ran for thirteen years as a popular stage play at Disney’s California Adventure park in Anaheim, California. This Aladdin was a huge box office bonanza at the box office for Walt Disney Feature Animation, Walt Disney Pictures, and The Walt Disney Company. A live-action film adaptation of “Aladdin” was released in 2019.
