My Review

“The Kennedys” miniseries is an engrossing look at the history of the Kennedy family from 1938 to 1968. Director Jon Cassar (“CHiPs ’99” 1998) and teleplay author Stephen Kronish put together this fascinating and comprehensive look at the Kennedy’s history, including Ambassador Joe Kennedy’s original plan to run his son Joseph Jr. for president, his managing of JFK’s campaign in 1960, the Kennedy presidency, the subsequent assassinations of John and Robert, and Jackie’s marriage to Aristotle Onassis.

The eight episodes flew by, with Cassar and Kronish sticking with the highlights of these Kennedy years with a “lean” subject matter, for a total of 353 minutes. “The Kennedys” was aired on the Reelz Channel in April, 2011.

The outstanding cast included Greg Kinnear as JFK, Katie Holmes as Jackie, Tom Wilkinson as Ambassador Kennedy, Barry Pepper as RFK, Diana Hardcastle as Rose, Kristen Booth as Ethel.

Others include Chris Diamontopoulos as Frank Sinatra, Charlotte Sullivan as Marilyn Monroe, Enrico Colantoni as J. Edgar Hoover, Don Allison as Lyndon Johnson, Serge Houde as Sam Giancana, and Ryan Blakely as Lee Harvey Oswald.
