My Review

“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” is the newest film released in the series featuring the popular animated superhero turtles. Director Jeff Rowe put together a story where the turtles defeat a gang to recover a stolen moped for a friend, who gets them involved in another confict, this time with a larger crime syndicate, and are soon in over their heads. Rowe fills the movie with loads of action sequences, an exciting storyline, colorful animation, and good dialogue from a high quality screenplay by himself and Seth Rogan, Evan Goldberg, Daniel Hernandez, and Benji Samit.

The voice cast is headed by Micah Abbey as Donatello, Shamon Brown Jr. as Michelangelo, Nicholas Cantu as Leonardo, and Brady Noon as Raphael. Others include Ayo Edebiri, Maya Rudolph, John Cena, Seth Rogan, Rose Byrne, Giancarlo Esposito, Jackie Chan, Ice Cube, Paul Rudd, Austin Post, Hannibal Buress, Michael Badalucco, David Faustino, Bobby Wagner, and Jeff Rowe as the Man Who Loves Being Young and Free to Go Places. (When you’re the director you are apparently allowed to cast yourself as anyone you want.)

“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” is the seventh in the “Turtles” film series, with previous movies released in 1990, 1991, 1993, 2007, 2014, and 2016. Another sequel is in development, with “Mutant Mayhem” being a big hit at the box office for producers Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg, Nickelodeon Movies, Point Grey Pictures, and Paramount Pictures.
