“So I Married An Axe Murderer” is a black comedy starring Mike Myers as a man who marries a butcher, with his parents suspicious that she is the notorious axe murderer on the loose. He is at first sceptical, but on their honeymoon, he begins to suspect they are correct. Director Thomas Schlamme (“Miss Firecracker” 1989) and screenwriter Robbie Fox do a terrible job with this film, which features bad production values, terrible dialogue, etc.
Only the charm of the cast carries the movie including Mike Myers, Nancy Travis, Anthony LaPaglia, Amanda Plummer, Michael Richards, Charles Grodin, Phil Hartman, Steven Wright, Debi Mazar, Alan Arkin, Brenda Fricker, Matt Doherty, and Jessie Nelson. “So I Married An Axe Murderer” just broke even at the box office for TriStar Pictures, but has gained a cult following in recent years.
