My Review

“Gringa” is a story of an American teenage girl who runs away to Mexico to find the father she never knew. Producers-directors E. J. Foerster and Marny Eng put together a feel-good movie that is somewhat formulaic, but does demonstrate the power of forgiveness and reconciliation. Patrick Hasburgh wrote the lucid screenplay.

Good performances abound, especially from Steve Zahn and Jess Gabor as the father and daughter who discover they are both soccer professionals, or footballers. The supporting cast includes Judy Greer, Roselyn Sanchez, Valentina Buzzurro, Jorge A. Jimenez, Diana Norris, Nico Bracewell, and Gala Montes. The watchable “Gringa” is an independent film from E. J. Foerster and Marny Eng.
