My Review

“The Thomas Crown Affair” is the story of a bored billionaire who orchestrates the heist of a valuable painting from a New York City museum, and falls in love with the female insurance investigator looking into the case.

This movie, starring Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo, is a glossy remake of the 1968 film of the same name with Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway. Director John McTiernan (“Die Hard” 1988) employed high quality production values, including a top-notch screenplay by Leslie Dixon and Kurt Wimmer.

Co-stars include Denis Leary, Fritz Weaver, Mark Margolis, Esther Canadas, Frankie Faison, Michael Lombard, Cynthia Darlow, James Saito, Simon Jones, and Faye Dunaway in a small role as Crown’s psychiatrist. “The Thomas Crown Affair” was successful in theatrical release for producer Pierce Brosnan, Irish Dream Time, United Artists, and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Distribution Company.
