My Review

“Saving Grace” is a UK comedy telling the story of a widow lady left with heavy debts, including foreclosure on her home, and then resorting to growing cannabis to make money. This lame comedy is the result of sloppy directing by Nigel Cole and bad writing by Mark Crowdy (also a producer).

The stars of the show include Brenda Blethyn, Craig Ferguson, Martin Clunes, Tcheky Karyo, Valerie Edmond, Jamie Foreman, Bill Bailey, Diana Quick, and Phyllida Law. Martin Clunes took his character, Dr. Martin Bamford, and renamed him Dr. Martin Ellingham for a 2003 pilot film “Doc Martin and the Legend of the Cloutie” and then a popular television series “Doc Martin” that ran from 2004-2022.

Even filming in picturesque Cornwall did not help this dud “Saving Grace.” a failure at the box office that was an independent production distributed by 20th Century Fox.
