My Review

“Christmas Angel” is a British Christmas movie about a 15-year-old out on a shopping trip with his mother when she is tragically hit by a car and slips into a coma at the hospital. The woman visits her son in a dream and asks him to find a halo as this will help her recover. With the Christmas season approaching, the young man goes on an earnest search for the halo.

Producer-director-screenwriter Stephen Cookson did a good job putting together this feel-good Christmas film, although the storyline does meander a bit. If the viewer sticks with it, the nearly two-hour motion picture pays off in the end. The stars of the show include Joseph Phillips, Brenda Blethyn, Timothy Spall, Mel Smith, Angus Harrison, and Celia Imrie as The Librarian.

The original title of this project was “My Angel,” but the production company retitled it “Christmas Angel” when it was released on DVD in the UK and US in 2013. “Christmas Angel” is a watchable film from New Horizon Films and BBC Home Entertainment.
