My Review

“Keeping Mum” is a poorly written and badly directed black comedy from UK director-screenwriter Niall Johnson (“The Big Swap” 1998). It is the story of a small town English vicar who is oblivious to the problems of his wife and teenage son and daughter. Enter a new housekeeper, who has some solutions to their difficulties.

The cast includes Maggie Smith as the housekeeper, Rowan Atkinson as the vicar, Kristen Scott Thomas as his wife, and Tamsin Edgerton and Toby Parkes as his children. The co-stars include Patrick Swayze, Emilia Fox, Liz Smith, James Booth, Murray McArthur, and Roger Hammond as The Judge. The forgetable “Keeping Mum” was a flop at the box for Summit Entertainment and Isle of Man Film.
