My Review

“Boat Trip” is a romantic comedy from director Mort Nathan in his feature film debut. The story is about two men who recently suffered breakups with their girl friends, and decide to go on a cruise to get over their problems. However, worse problems arise when they discover that the cruise they are on is for gay men. The supposed comedy proceeds from there, but flops due to lousy directing by Nathan, who also co-wrote the terrible screenplay with William Bigelow.

Cuba Gooding Jr. and Horatio Sanz head the cast, which mostly turn out bad performances. Co-stars include Vivica A. Fox, Roger Moore, Richard Roundtree, Will Ferrell, Roselyn Sanchez, Bob Gunton, Jami Ferrell, Thomas Lennon, and Lin Shaye. “Boat Trip” was a titanic disaster of a flop at the box office for Artisan Entertainment, Nordisk Film, and Motion Picture Corporation of America.

The film earned two Golden Raspberry Awards (“Razzie Awards”) for Gooding as Worst Actor and for Nathan as Worst Director. They both lost to Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s “Gigli”!
