My Review
“Film: The Living Record of Our Memory” is a documentary movie about people who have contributed to the preservation of film and motion pictures through the years. Director Ines Toharia Teran interviews numerous filmmakers, motion picture preservationists, and movie archivists from around the world such as Ben Mankiewicz, Martin Scorsese, Ridley Scott, and Vittorio Storaro.
They cited the need for film preservation, as 80% of all silent movies have been lost, and 50% of a motion pictures made before 1950 are gone forever. Old films were easily damaged and destroyed, and even newer methods like DVDs and digital material are vulnerable. This absorbing two-hour documentary goes over all of these topics and more in great detail.
“Film: The Living Record of Our Memory” is a production of El Grifilm of Spain and Filmoption International of Canada.
