My Review

“Shoot or Be Shot” is a low-budget independent film starring William Shatner as an escapee from a psychiatric hospital who kidnaps a film crew and forces them at gunpoint to make a movie from his own screenplay.

Producer-director-screenwriter J. Randall Argue put together a movie that is somewhat reminiscent of “Bowfinger.” Though not as thoroughly comedic as the Eddie Murphy-Steve Martin romp, “Shoot or Be Shot” does have more than a few laughs, thanks to Argue and his co-writers Steve Catanzaro and Alistair Salton.

Joining Bill Shatner on screen are Harry Hamlin, Scott Rinker, Julianne Christie, Marcus Ashley, Johanna Stein, John Paul Pitoc, Elena Sahagun, Vinnie Bilancio, and veteran character actor Tim Thomerson as Uncle Bill. The watchable “Shoot or Be Shot” was released directly to video in 2002 by PorchLight Entertainment and 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment.
