My Review

“Paycheck” is a fast-moving science fiction action film about a reverse engineer who performs work on sensitive projects, and undergoes a memory wipe to protect his clients’ intellectual property. Producer-director John Woo (“Windtalkers” 2002) and screenwriter Dean Georgaris deserve credit for making an evenly paced movie with well timed revelations, keeping the audience engaged with the story for the two hour duration of the film.

Ben Affleck delivers a bit of a shaky performance in the lead, winning a Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Actor. Co-stars include Aaron Eckhart, Colm Feore, Uma Thurman, Paul Giamatti, Peter Friedman, Ivana Milicevic, Kathryn Morris, Joe Morton, Serge Houde, Callum Keith Rennie, and Michael C. Hall in his motion picture debut. At this point in time, he was star of HBO’s “Six Feet Under” and soon to become a television superstar as “Dexter” on Showtime.

“Paycheck” was panned by critics but a success at the box office for Davis Entertainment, Lion Rock Entertainment, and Paramount Pictures.
