My Review

Producer-director Errol Morris has created a fascinating look at the life and times of Robert S. McNamara in “The Fog of War.” Morris won the Academy Award for Best Documentary for this skillfully crafted work, which features live interviews with the man who was John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson’s Secretary of Defense.

The show also features a look at his background, including his childhood in World War I, military career in World War II, president of Ford Motor Company, and events during the Kennedy-Johnson years, including the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Vietnam War.

The military term “fog of war” describes the difficulty of making decisions in wartime. McNamara candidly admitted that mistakes were made in his and LBJ’s management of the Vietnam involvement. “The Fog of War” did make some cash at the box office SenArt Films, RadicalMedia, and Sony Pictures Classics.
