My Review

Arnold Schwarzenegger is back for more fun and games in “Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines.” Though not as original as its two predecessors (1984 & 1991), this one nonetheless contains enough action sequences, an exciting chase scene, and copious battles between Arnold’s T-800 and the new female T-X (played by Kristanna Loken) to qualify as a crowd pleaser. It was a hit at the box office for Warner Bros. Pictures.

Director Jonathan Mostow (“U-571” 2000) and screenwriters John Brancato and Michael Ferris turned out a good popcorn movie, especially considering that James Camerson and Gale Anne Hurd were not involved. Nick Stahl took over the role of John Conner, with Claire Danes as his girlfriend. Also present are David Andrews, Mark Famiglietti, Jay Acovone, and Earl Boen as Dr. Peter Silverman, making a third appearance, who, along with Arnold, are the only actors to do so in “Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines.”

Movie audiences can be assured that the Terminator will surely “be back” for a fourth, fifth, and maybe more sequels. (However, fate intervened and Schwarzenegger was elected Governor of California later in 2003, a job he would hold until 2011. He would do “Terminator” sequels in 2015 and 2019, with one sequel in 2009, the only one without him.)
