My Review

Producer-director-screenwriter Sofia Coppola has made a film that takes a look at the extraordinary life of Priscilla Presley. Adapted from Presley’s 1985 autobiography “Elvis and Me,” the movie depicts the good, the bad, and the ugly of her marriage to the rock-and-roll legend.

Cailee Spaeny did a good job of playing Priscilla, from the 9th grade, when she first met Elvis, through the entire marriage, going from the age of 15 to 27. The supporting cast includes Jacob Elordi as Elvis Presley, Ari Cohen and Dagmara Dominszyk as Priscilla’s parents, Tim Post as Vernon Presley, Lynne Griffin as Minnie Mae Presley, as well as Dan Beirne, Rodrigo Fernandez-Stoll, Stephanie Moore, and Luke Humphrey. No Elvis songs were used in the film’s soundtrack.

“Priscilla” came in fourth at the box office during its first weekend in release, maybe a bit of a disappointment for producer Sofia Coppola, executive producer Priscilla Presley, American Zoetrope, and The Apartment Pictures.
