My Review

A passable drama with holes in the plot pretty much describes “Puerta Vallarta Squeeze.” Director Arthur Allan Seidelman and screenwriter Richard Alfieri adapted the film from Robert James Waller’s 1995 novel, which tells the tale of a hit man trying to flee to the U. S. after killing two people in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

Scott Glenn delivers a good performance in the film, but is hampered by inconsistencies in the storyline. Co-stars include Harvey Keitel, Craig Wasson, Giovanna Zacharias, Patrick David, Will Collyer, Austin Miller, Brett Wagner, Julian Bucio, Hector Soberon, and Jonathan Brandis in his final film role. He passed away in 2003, before the film’s release. Veteran Vikki Carr is in top form as a restaurant singer.

“Puerto Vallarta Squeeze” suffers from bad writing, mediocre directing, and gratuitous sex and violence. It was a failure at the box office for its independent producers.
