My Review

The three part “Left Behind” movie series concludes in a spectacular fashion with “Left Behind: World at War.” Louis Gosset Jr. joins the cast as the President of the United States, Gerald Fitzhugh, whose administration is under attack by the Global Community Forces.

Most of the actors from the previous films (“Left Behind: The Movie” 2000 & “Left Behind: Tribulation Force” 2002) return. They are Kirk Cameron as Buck Williams, Brad Johnson as Rayford Steele, Janaya Stephens as Chloe Steele, and newcomer Arnold Pinnock as Bruce Barnes, constituting the Tribulation Force.

Gordon Currie is once again diabolical as Nicholae Carpathia, with Chelsea Noble as Hattie Durham. (Noble is married to Kirk Cameron in real life!) Other cast members include Jessica Steen, Charles Martin Smith, David Eisner, Laura Catalano, and Richard Fitzpatrick.

Gossett seems to dominate this picture, unlike the first two films which focused on the Tribulation Force. His long movie and television career definitely adds gravitas to this project. The screenplay by Paul Lalonde, Peter Lalonde, and Andre van Heerden hold the viewer’s attention for the entire one hundred minute film.

Director Craig R. Baxley (“Action Jackson” 1988) kept the film focused, the action riveting, and the FX high quality, making “Left Behind: World at War” a very watchable motion picture. It was released to churches and directly to DVD by producer Paul Lalonde, Cloud Ten Pictures, and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. The next films in this franchise are “Left Behind” (2014) starring Nicholas Cage and “Left Behind: Rise of the Antichrist” (2023) starring Kevin Sorbo and Corbin Bernsen.
