Tom Selleck embarks on a new phase in his career playing the police chief of a small New England town in “Jesse Stone: Stone Cold.” This made-for-television movie is the first in a series of nine films based on Robert B. Parker’s Jesse Stone novels. The plot usually involves Chief Stone investigating two different cases in each episode.
Smooth direction by Robert Harmon and a top-notch teleplay by John Fasano and Michael Brandman gives the film the feel of a 1940’s film noir. Also contributing to the atmospherics is the excellent cinematography by Rene Ohashi, filmed on location in Nova Scotia.
Selleck’s supporting cast is filled with exceptional talent like Viola Davis, Kohl Sudduth, Reg Rogers, Jane Adams, Alexis Dziena, Polly Shannon, Stephen McHattie, Shawn Roberts, Vito Reeza, Victoria Snow, Thomas Gibson, and Mimi Rogers. The movie was first broadcast on CBS in February, 2005.
