My Review

“The Island” is a science fiction thriller about two human clones living in an isolated community where residents are held for organ harvesting to benefit their human counterparts. Producer-director Michael Bay (“Pearl Harbor” 2001) and screenwriters Alex Kurtzman and Robert Orci have a movie that heavily borrows storylines from other films like “Soylent Green” (1973), “Logan’s Run” (1976), or “Blade Runner” (1982). Per usual, Bay relies heavily upon action sequences and neglects developing a high-quality storyline.

The actors performed well enough, including Ewan MacGregor, Scarlett Johansson, Djimon Hounsou, Sean Bean, Michael Clark Duncan, Steve Buscemi, Ethan Phillips, Glenn Morshower, Chris Ellis, Shawnee Smith, and Tom Everett as The President of these United States. “The Island” barely made a profit at the box office for DreamWorks Pictures, Parkes/MacDonald Productions, and Warner Bros. Pictures.
