“For Your Consideration” is a comedy about the growing excitement of the cast and crew of a film that industry “buzz” says may be up for an Oscar, even though it is low-budget and just plain awful. Guest’s dry humor is evident in the screenplay he wrote with Eugene Levy, although much of the dialogue is improvised, with enough laughs to hold the viewers’ interest in this spoof of show business.
Many performers who were in Guest’s previous projects are also in this one: Catherine O’Hara, Harry Shearer, Parker Posey, Fred Willard, Eugene Levy, Jane Lynch, Michael McKean, Larry Miller, Bob Balaban, Ed Begley Jr., John Michael Higgins, and Jennifer Coolidge. Others include Christopher Moynihan, Jim PIddock, John Kraskinski, Richard Kind, Sandra Oh, and Ricky Gervais.
“For Your Consideration” was a big flop at the box office for Castle Rock Entertainment, Shangri-La Entertainment, and Warner Independent Pictures.
