My Review

Will Ferrell plays a professional race car driver in the very funny sports comedy “Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.” Director Adam McKay (“Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy” 2004) and screenwriters McKay and Ferrell have the right combination of laughs, satire, and some drama in this well-paced show.

Other players in this race car picture includes John C. Reilly, Michael Clarke Duncan, Leslie Bibb, Gary Cole, Jane Lynch, Andy Richter, Amy Adams, Sacha Baron Cohen, David Koechner, Molly Shannon, Rob Riggle, Houston Tumlin, and Grayson Russell. There are cameos by Dale Earnhardt Jr., Mos Def, and Elvis Costello. Pat Hingle makes his final major film appearance in a career that began in 1954, when he was in the cast of “On the Waterfront” starring Marlon Brando. Hingle passed away in January, 2009.

The watchable “Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby” was a big hit at the box office for producer Judd Apatow, Columbia Pictures, and Sony Pictures Releasing.
