My Review

Low expectations will help if you go to the theater to view “The Expendables 4.” The action movie is plagued by poor writing, bad acting, sluggish dialogue, a non-existent plot, and more, thanks to just plain bad movie-making by director Scott Waugh (“Need for Speed” 2014) and screenwriters Kurt Wimmer, Tad Daggerhart ,and Max Adams. The story has the Expendables sent to Libya to prevent a mercenary from stealing nuclear weapons where they find they are thwarted by a bad script.

The cast includes four core stars that reprise their roles from the previous films of 2010, 2012, and 2014: Jason Statham, Sylvester Stallone, Dolph Lundgren, and Randy Couture. Newcomers include Andy Garcia, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Megan Fox, Tony Jaa, Iko Uwais, Jacob Skipio, and Levy Tran. Sly Stallone only appeared at the beginning and at the end of the film. He may only be working only part-time in his senior years.

“The Expendables 4” has completely bombed at the box office, much to the chagrin of producer Jason Statham and Lionsgate Films.
