“What Happens in Vegas” is a romantic comedy film that tells the story of two New Yorkers meeting for the first time in Las Vegas and getting married on a whim. The next day, both realize their mistake but Jack wins a three million dollar jackpot on Joy’s quarter, so they decide to give the marriage a go. The madcap comedy proceeds from there.
The cast is head by Ashton Kutcher and Cameron Diaz as Jack and Joy. They pull off the comedy well enough, with a supporting cast that includes Rob Corddry, Lake Bell, Dennis Farina, Treat Williams, Jason Sudeikis, Zach Galifianakis, Queen Latifah, Michelle Krusiec, Dierdre O’Connell, Kristen Ritter, Andy Daly, Billy Eichner, and Dennis Miller as Judge Whopper.
Director Tom Vaughan (“Starter for 10” 2006) made this passable comedy that does have some laughs, but is not top-rate entertainment. The screenplay was penned by Dana Fox. “What Happens in Vegas” was successful at the box office for Dune Entertainment, Regency Enterprises, and 20th Century Fox.
