My Review

“Babylon A. D.” is a classic Vin Diesel science fiction action picture, this one telling the story of a mercenary hired to bring a young woman from Asia to New York City, by way of Russia. Director Mathieu Kassovitz (“See How They Fall” 1994) instilled the film with enough action and an understandable plot to make for a watchable movie. He co-wrote the screenplay with Eric Bresnard.

The action centers around Diesel, with his unique talents and charismatic persona. The supporting cast includes Michelle Yeoh, Melanie Thierry, Gerard Depardieu, Charlotte Rampling, Mark Strong, Lambert Wilson, David Belle, and Jerome LeBanner.

“Babylon A. D.” barely made a profit at the box office, much to the chagrin of Dune Entertainment, StudioCanal, and 20th Century Fox.
